Dear Colleagues and Friends,
we are glad to announce that the VIIth European Workshop on the Molecular Biology of Cyanobacteria will be held in August 31-September 3, 2008 in Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic. On behalf of organizers we have the pleasure to cordially invite you to participate in this Meeting. Your participation is important and should indeed be valuable in ensuring the success of the Meeting, and will be very much appreciated. We look forward to meeting you in Ceske Budejovice and we hope that you can take this opportunity to spend inspiring and enjoyable time in one of the regions of the Czech Republic full of the beautiful sights and great beer. We believe that about half a year after ESF-EMBO Bioenergetics meeting it will be another excellent occasion to meet researchers of cyanobacteria not only from Europe but from around the world and to discuss previous, present, and future research on cyanobacteria. A website with the initial information on the location, schedule, sightseeing, accommodation, abstract and poster preparation is available at http://www.phycology.cz/cyano2008/. This website will be regularly updated as more speakers are identified and more information is available. We assume to open the registration on 15th of February.
In agreement with the original purpose of this workshop series initiated in 1990 we plan to have a limited number of experienced keynote speakers presenting invited lectures while we would like to especially welcome participation of a large number of young scientists, PhD students and postdocs actively participating in the form of selected oral presentations, poster and round table discussions.
We believe that the South Bohemia's capital Ceske Budejovice will offer you a nice and inspiring atmosphere to enjoy life while discussing science. There is a good connection to Ceske Budejovice from airports in Prague, Linz and Vienna by trains and coaches, and being in the middle of Europe, Ceske Budejovice is easily accessible by car from Germany, Austria and other central European countries.
With hope to see you in Ceske Budejovice to make a great workshop together.

The 6th European Workshop on the Molecular Biology of Cyanobacteria
Sunday Sept. 25 - Wednesday Sept. 28.2005
Gdańsk, Poland
|
The series of Workshops on the Molecular Biology of Cyanobacteria was initiated in 1990 in Dourdan France, and afterwards was held in Bristol, Sevilla, Berlin and most recently in Stockholm.
The incentive of the meetings is to have a limited number of experienced scientists present lectures that serve as a framework to the programme that otherwise is rich in short oral presentations, poster display and poster discussion.
Postdocs and young faculty staff are offered that way the opportunity to speak and interact with contemporaries and experienced scientists. The venue at the Gdansk Medical University offers a nice lecture hall and adjacent space for poster exhibition in walking distance from downtown. Meeting each other, exchange about science, engage into prospects for future cooperation, learning about new approaches, all of that lays ahead for you.
Gdansk offers a highly attractive city scene, small enough in surface for many of us be seen dwelling at night and sampling the pleasure of sitting down at the numerous places that offer a nice atmosphere to enjoy life while discussing science.
|
The size of poster shouldn't go beyond A0 format (HxW - 1189x841 mm, vertical (portrait) orientation). Posters are on display for viewing and informal discussion throughout the conference.
The registration desk is open from 15.00 on Sunday. This is also the time to put up your posters.
The oral presentation should be prepared on CD in Power Point format. We will collect them during registration time in Gdansk.
